I have been a busy little bee.
The sewing bugs bit me and I have been doing nothing but driving my poor sewing machine to the ground. Which explains why I haven't been blogging much. I dunno how you ladies do it. Seriously. I must've been in the bathroom when Father Time was passing out magical stopwatches, because I barely have time to brush my teeth... on a GOOD day!
So if I am MIA, it's more than likely I am knee deep in fabric, sewing like it's no one business.
well it really is no one's business, but HEY, you get the gist!
I had a stash of Joel Dewberry's Heirloom collection and decided to make a set of fun girly pieces to mix and match. SIMPLE is the key word here. Simple pieces matched with bold, bright patterns. I think this is the first time Lala has ever worn pink. I always pictured her as a "blue, green or yellow" kind of gal. I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised.
The blouse I used pattern "D" from this book and added pintucks to the front. The skirt was actually an inspiration from Rae over here. The tights I bought from here. This is an awesome sight if you're looking for colored tights. They have a tons of colors, the prices are reasonable and great quality. No joke... check it out!
I kept an old sweater that Sophie wore to death. It had holes in the back. Luckily, I salvaged it and now has a second life for baby sis.
For the slip dress, I used a pattern made here. I'm hoping Lala will be able to still fit into this come late spring when it starts to heat up.
But in the meantime while it's still a wee bit chilly, I can always add the blouse over it or even the sweater. I could even have the blouse underneath and have the sweater over that, but it would be pattern overload, no?
Lala is ready for Valentines Day! There's just one problem...
